The project "Taking Life into Our Own Hands" launched in rural areas. This new project will be implemented by WPU Erayim with the financial support of the US International organization ELCA from February 1, 2023, to January 31, 2025.
The main goal of the project contributes to the improvement of the life quality of vulnerable people, especially women, in remote rural areas in the north and south of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The project is being implemented in 4 oblasts of Kyrgyzstan: Uchkun village of Mady rural district of Kara-Suu district of Osh oblast, Zhon village of Beshik-Jon rural district of Bazar-Korgon district of Jalal-Abad oblast, Toguz-Bulak village of Toguz-Bulak rural district of Tup district of Issyk-Kul oblast and Chaek village of Chaek rural district of Zhumgal district of Naryn oblast.
As a result of the project implementation, in the course of three years, three major issues will be addressed: firstly, improving the framework for women’s entrepreneurial activities; secondly introducing sustainable approaches in farming addressing the local needs and challenges; thirdly, setting up a Community-Based Support System (CBSS) providing support for vulnerable groups, especially women.
The first launch of the project took place on April 12, 2023, in Toguz-Bulak village of Tup district of Issyk-Kul oblast and on April 13 in Chaek village of Zhumgal district of Naryn oblast. The events were attended by members of Self-Help Groups, representatives of local authorities and other stakeholders. The events were opened by Rakhila Zhusupova, Chairperson of the WPU Erayim, who told the participants about the organization. Then the project coordinator Altynai Sabyrbekova made a presentation on the new project.
At the end of the event, the participants asked and received answers to their questions about the project. We are confident that the new project will be aimed at solving the problems of rural areas and will contribute to the development of the local economy.
