3 Associations of SHGs created in Mady, Shark and Kyzyl-Kyshtak municipalities Kara-Suu district, Osh oblast, within the framework of the project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, implemented by WPU Erayim with the support of the German international organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt) are actively working in five directions of the project.

It should be noted that the Association of SHGs ‘Kurmanzhan Datka’, ‘Shark’ and ‘Kerme-Too’ took an active part in the presidential, local deputy elections this year. SHG members, on the other hand, took the initiative to ensure fair and peaceful elections by participating in special training courses and meetings organized by village governments, improving their knowledge of election observation and transparency, and they contributed to the development of the country, - noted Narynkul Dushenalieva, SHG coordinator.

Also, Self-Help Groups of Kara-Suu district, realizing the role of the deputies elected to local councils in solving the problems of the villages, applied their knowledge gained at the training courses organized by the WPU Erayim on advocacy and lobbying for the election campaign. As a result, Borubaeva Gulsun Chomoevna from the Kurmanzhan Datka’ SHG Association was elected as a deputy to the Mady local council, and Ranohan Yuldasheva from the Association of SHG ‘Shark’ was elected as a deputy to the Shark local council with the support of SHG members and due to their services for people.
