SHG Associations Established in Shark, Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak Village Districts

On 22-23 June, 2018, general meetings of self-help groups were held within the framework of WPU Erayim’s project entitled ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, supported by German international organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt).
The main purpose of the meetings was to create Associations of self-help groups in village districts of Shark, Kyzyl-Kyshtak and Mady.
On the morning of 22 June, a general meeting was held in the village of Ishkavan in the rural district of Kyzyl-Kyshtak. The meeting was opened by Narynkul Duishenalieva, SHG Coordinator of the project in Osh province. She focused on the history of the organization and creation of SHGs in the village WPU Erayim Chairwoman, Rakhila Zhusupova, spoke about the activities to create SHG Associations in the regions and the implementation of the project. Experts Abydlas Koshumbaev and Elmira Sepishova reported on the experiences and achievements of SHG Associations created in Naryn province.
At the meeting, SHG members, the WPU Erayim Chairwoman, SHG experts and the coordinator of the SHG in Jalal-Abad province, as well as a project group from Osh province, participated. The total number of participants was 139 people from three village districts.
Within the framework of the event, SHG Associations have been established from the self-help groups Bektursun, Baybol, Arzuu, Yntymak, Dam-1, Ak-Tilek of Kyzyl-Kyshtak village district, Zhakshylyk, Ymut, Yrysky, Oomat, Dostuk, Ak-Niyet of Mady village district and Gulbakhar, Hamza, Ymut, Navbahar, Ak-Niet, Raduga of Shark village district. In addition to the creation of the SHG Associations, Statutes were adopted, and members of the executive body of the Association were elected. During the event, each group told about their work done in four areas.
The SHG Association is comprised of SHGs who have studied the concept of SHGs well, in order to tackle their problems. According to the Minutes of the meeting two candidates were proposed from each self-help group for the Association and there were elections to the executive body. A member of Dam-1 SHG, Nishanova Avakan, was elected Head of the Association; Ahmadaliyeva Kyzzhibek a member of the Baibol SHG, was elected secretary; and Chinasova Zulfiya, a member of Bektursun, was elected as the treasurer of Ordo. The SHG Association was named Kerme-Too. An entrance fee to the union of 400 soms, a membership fee of 200 soms, and a 5% internal credit interest were approved. A concert programme by the Bektursun self-help group completed the event.
In the second half of the same day, a meeting was held in the village district of Mady. The Kurmanzhan Datka Association was established here. A member of the Ak Niet self-help group, Tursunova Sanzhyra, was elected Head; a member of the Umut SHG, Matusmonova Buken, as secretary; and a member of the Yrysky group, Kadyraunova Batma, as treasurer. An entrance fee of 400 soms, a membership fee of 400 soms, and internal credit interest of 5% were established.
On 23 June, the Shark Birimdigi Association was established in the village district of Shark. A member of Umut SHG, Nurbaeva Nasiba, was elected leader, a member of Hamza SHG, Alimova Nulifar, secretary; and a member of Raduga SHG, Latipova Shaista, as treasurerof the Association. An entrance fee to the union of 400 soms, a membership fee of 400 soms, and credit interest of 0% were approved.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the provisions of the Association and adopted a unanimous decision. Each group nominated two candidates as representatives to the union, and they were elected unanimously. In conclusion, the members of the group's elders wished success to the newly established associations.
