The maternal school ‘Shirin’ complements a number of pre-school institutions in the city of Kochkor Ata. This school is quite different from other similar schools with more modern conditions and standards.

Education and upbringing are carried out using new methods. The school also differs with the design, arrangement, knowledge and experience of educators and nannies. This is due to the often-conducted trainings and the exchange of experience within the framework of the WPU Erayim’s ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ project, financed by Bread for the World. The founders of the maternal schools have gone through trainings on how to open the maternal schools and how to manage it.

Various cultural events are held in this school systematically on holidays. Celebrations of the spring equinox Nooruz was also celebrated here. Educators on this day turned into Umai ene - the patroness of women and mothers, prepared Sumalak, showed the rituals of ‘Putting the Baby in the Cradle’ and ‘Cutting the Straps’, so that the child's path was successful. Children in national clothes pleased their parents by singing songs and showing dances. According to the coordinator of the maternal schools in Jalal-Abad province, almost all of the twenty maternal schools met Nooruz with the festive events, and all of them were different. And in these days the celebration of Nooruz is still going on.
