Within the framework of the project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ the members of the ‘Leadership’ club of No.7 Alym Usman secondary school organized a special event of friendship, consent, unity and peace in a family type orphanage ‘Ak Bermet’ in Jalal-Abad city.
There are 12 children in this orphanage. They were all left unattended and the city management of internal affairs transferred them here. Their life is difficult. Some parents have gone abroad to earn money, some of them are divorced, some relatives did not give him or her proper attention therefore they ran away from them, and some children are complete orphans. In a word, these children were left to fend for themselves. The city department of education helps them by providing food, clothes and creating conditions for studying. This orphanage was opened by the city administration in 1997 and is financed by the state budget. A 4-room house was purchased with everything in it for living. Children wear clean clothes; sleep in cozy and warm rooms. They have all conditions for studying, and children study in secondary schools No.1, No.35, No.4. The members of the ‘Leadership’ club brought toys, books, notebooks and organized a concert program for them. “Our goal was to foster friendship and unity, to create a wonderful atmosphere for children. We played with them, sang and danced. The children here are very active and they wished that we were always in touch with them in the future,” says member of the club Zilola Rakhmanova. According to the head of the ‘Leadership’ club Zhanara Ryskulova, they often organize such a friendly trip to orphanages. “There are children who have parents, but they were left unattended in ‘Ak Bermet’ orphanage. If we talk about maternal care, then the caregivers treat and educate them as their own children. They are all in good hands and receive necessary attention. They express their opinions and quickly got along with the members of the club. We spent very interesting and unforgettable time together. At the end, we promised to visit them more often,” she says.
