Experts on SHGs of the project which is being implemented by WPU Erayim called ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ Koshumbaev Abdylas and Sepishova Elmira paid a working visit to Jalal-Abad and Osh oblasts from 21 June to 23 June 2017.

During the working visit, the experts consulted the leaders, bookkeepers and secretaries of 36 SHGs from Akman and Bazar-Korgon village districts of Bazar-Korgon district in Jalal-Abad oblast, Shark, Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak village districts of Kara-Suu district in Osh oblast and which were selected for creation the SHG Association within the framework of the project. They observed the work of the heads of SHGs and CSHGs Dushenalieva Narynkul, Mamazhanova Kiyal from Osh oblast and Boronbaeva Kishimzhan and Pirmatov Maksat from Jalal-Abad oblast. They identified shortcomings in their work and gave recommendations on how to solve them.

As a result of expert consultations, over seventy participants of the event, including the leaders of 36 SHGs and local SHG coordinators, were able to improve their knowledge on how to form the SHG Association. They got new information and received useful advice on how to properly keep a record of savings and purposefully use the funds, observe the fulfillment of the requirements of the Provision, correctly draw up a work plan, formulate the agenda items, and timely fulfill the tasks assigned on the basis of a meeting resolution.

In addition, questions regarding the function of the leader, bookkeeper and secretary of the SHG were considered. At the end of the event, experts distributed typical case management models to each SHG selected for the formation of the SHG Association.
