A master class on how to open a sewing workshop was organized for self-help groups ‘Tumar’ and ‘Ornok’ Mady and Sarai municipalities Kara-Suu district Osh oblast within the framework of the project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Modern and Traditional Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ implemented with the support of the German international organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt).

The master class was held in Uchkun village of Kara-Suu district, in the sewing workshop of the SHG, organized with the financial support of the Danish partner-sponsor of the WPU Erayim Peter Marsling and conducted by the project coordinator for SHGs Narynkul Dyushenalieva, who herself is also a sewing master of the national headdress "Kalpak", national clothes "Chepken" and women's dress.

The aim of this initiative is to develop entrepreneurship by teaching sewing techniques to self-help groups and other women in rural areas.

The master class was useful for all participants. Kenzhe Anashova, a member of the SHG "Tumar" from the rural district of Mady and Chinara Ergeshova, a member of the SHG "Ornok" from the rural district of Saray noted the following: "We learned a lot about the secrets of entrepreneurship in the clothing industry, about how to properly manage the sources of income and expenses, where to buy high-quality raw materials for clothing production at low prices. We also learned a lot about the use of Internet technologies in the sale of finished products.”

Rural development, employment of women and improvement of rural life through the creation of small businesses are the goals of each of us. We intend to use the knowledge gained in the master class to implement our business ideas. Therefore, we are very grateful to Erayim for giving us such an opportunity,” the members of the SHG added.
