On November 16, 2021, the Association of SHG Shark held a round table on the topic ‘Assistance to local authorities in the prevention of religious radicalism, extremism and terrorism at the local level’. The association was organized by the WPU Erayim in Shark municipality Kara-Suu district, Osh oblast. (One of 9 proposals submitted to municipality administrations by the three ASHGs for 2020 was implemented).

‘The purpose of the round table was to prevent religious radicalism, extremism, terrorism and to strengthen cooperation between Shark SHG Association and the Shark municipality administration,’ said Saodat Usmanova, head of Shark SHG Association.

The round table was organized in Shark municipality Kara-Suu district. The project coordinator for Osh oblast Ikram Israilov noted that it was attended by officials of local government, social workers, social educators, members of Shark, Kyzyl-Kyshtak, Toloiken, and Mady local councils, teachers and schoolchildren of Abu Ali ibn Sino secondary school, representatives of Kara-Suu district state administration, officers of the district police department and the 10th department of Osh regional police office, the dean of theological faculty of Osh State University, the imam of Sarmazar mosque, the chairman and the entire staff of WPU Erayim.

At the round table, residents and adolescents of Shark municipality discussed the negative consequences of religious radicalism, extremism, and terrorism (human trafficking, fraudulent involvement of youth and adults in other religions, family breakdown, increased domestic violence, etc.). Participants agreed to organize some more round tables in 2022 at three secondary schools of Shark municipality.
