Mai Tokoch on Kurman Ait

The traditional event entitled ‘Mai Tokoch (flatbread, fried in oil) at Kurman Ait’ was organized in Abu Ali ibn Sino secondary school No. 16 in Shark village of Kara-Suu district in Osh oblast by the ‘Yntymak’, ‘Gulbakhar’ and ‘Raduga’ SHGs of WPU Erayim’s project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, financed by the international German organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt). As a guest at the event, the German ASA Program intern Marie Robinski participated.
At this event, many children, socially vulnerable families and their children, whose parents are labor migrants, were treated with mai tokochs (flatbread, fried in oil) at the event. According to Narynkul Dushenalieva, the coordinator of the SHGs for Osh oblast, such an event is held simultaneously in the village districts of Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak.
The event was prepared and held by members of SHGs with using its own funds. At the event, Mai Tokochs were prepared with the wishes for peace in Kyrgyzstan, the unity and consent of the people and a happy life. Neighbors and villagers were invited as guests. And at the end of the event, SHG members presented the traditional female headdress - ak elekchik as a gift to the German ASA Program intern Marie Robinski.
