A training workshop called ‘An Advocacy and Lobbying’ was conducted by Zhanara Ryskulova in the Alym Usman secondary school № 7, in Ch. Aitmatov district in Jalal-Abad city for the children's self-help groups, within the framework of the ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ project, which is being implemented by the women’s public union Erayim and financed by the international German organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt).
The CSHG coordinator of the project Maksat Pirmatov helped to organize training workshop. All the members of the CSHG of this school tried to participate in the training, since they needed this training. Because children need to know their rights, be able to protect them, acquire the skills to speak their opinions.
They should be able to express themselves, set goals and seek ways to achieve them. These issues were covered by the training workshop.
- “I asked the children to say what troubles them at school, in society? At first they were very passive, showed no interest, and those who wanted to say something were interfered. I continued training with entertaining and intellectual games, asking them interesting questions, and those who showed zero interest began to slowly participate in the discussions and work in groups. One of them was Aslidin, he did not even want to participate in the morning lesson of the first day's training, and he was begged for many reasons outside. I gave him freedom of actions. In the second half of the training, he slowly began to become interested and said that he began to like training and started working with the rest of the children in the group," says Zhanara Ryskulova.
In this training, children raised the issue of early marriage and its consequences, problems with the cleanliness of the environment, garbage disposal and offered their own ways of solving these issues.
