On 21 November 2017, a general meeting of self-help groups ‘Araket’, ‘Nasiyat’, ‘Asema’ and ‘Yntymak’ was held in the Ornok village of Issyk-Kul province in order to unite them into SHG's Association in the framework of the WPU Erayim’s ‘Establishing Associations of SHGs in Regions’ project, supported by the British charitable organization CAF (Charities Aid Foundation).

The members of SHGs, the head of Chon Sary-Oy village district Ulan Abdykalykov, the representatives of the SHG Association of the Sary-Oy and Baet villages, the chairwoman of the WPU Erayim Rakhila Zhusupova, the SHG coordinators Abdylas Koshumbaev, Elmira Sepishova and the employee of the microcredit agency ‘Erayim Bereke’ Altynai Sabyrbekova have attended this meeting.

As a moderator, the meeting was initiated by the SHG coordinator of WPU Erayim Abdylas Koshumbaev and he gave the introductory speech to the coordinator of the SHG in the Issyk-Kul province, Chynara Kydyralieva. She, in turn, told the story of the creation and development of SHGs in the village of Ornok, and noted that according to the project of WPU Erayim four out of six SHGs have developed steadily and are ready to join the SHG Association. Further, the chairwoman of WPU Erayim Rakhila Zhusupova spoke about the activities of the projects on the creation of the SHG Associations in other regions of the republic. Mamatkazy Kaparov, an employee of the organization, shared his experience and knowledge received in India about SHGs and spoke about the ‘New Village Movement’ program in South Korea (Saemaul Undong) and showed the film about ‘Saemaul Undong’.

The employee of the microcredit agency ‘Erayim Bereke’ Altynai Sabyrbekova gave information about the crediting of the SHGs, the Association of SHGs and answered to the questions.

Among the guests, the head Chon Sary-Oy aiyl okmotu Ulan Abdykalykov spoke about the importance of the joint work of the SHG Association in social and cultural events at the local level. He also stressed that the activities of SHGs have a positive impact on the consciousness of people and society. In conclusion, he expressed his readiness to further cooperate with the SHG and their Associations.

According to the procedures for the creation of the SHG Association, the members of the four SHGs participating in the general meeting discussed proposals, changes and additions to the Regulations of the Association, and each group delegated two candidates to the SHG Association. As a result, the Regulations were adopted unanimously, and the members of the Association were elected. The general meeting was approved by Ordo (the executive body) in the person of the head, secretary and cashier.

At the end of the event, gratitude letters were solemnly given to SHG members, who took an active part in the creation of the Association. The event ended with a concert program organized by the group "Kol Azhary".
