‘Ethno-Ensemble’ clubs work within the framework of the WPU Erayim’s ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ project, financed by international organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt) in the secondary schools of the districts included in this project.
Thanks to these clubs, children's interest in traditional music and national musical instruments is growing. According to the head of this club, a famous performer of dastans (a kind of national songs) and composer Burul Stamkulova, she buys national musical instruments komuz and ooz komuz for children who attend this club, and makes sure that they constantly and with interest attends the musical club. For noble purposes, sometimes she buys musical instruments for talented children at her own expense.
It should be noted about the achievements of the school student of the 8th grade of the boarding school named after Joomart Bokonbaev, which was part of the Bazar-Korgon district project, David kyzy Shekergul. Since her sister Umutai also studied the national instrument komuz in this club with the help of this project. Now she studies at Jalal-Abad State University at the Faculty of Biology. Along with her studies, she actively participates in the cultural life of the university; she became a real celebrity due to her talent and playing songs on the komuz. She dreams of becoming a musician and does not conceal that her parents were against it at one time. Noticing the talent of their daughter, parents now do not interfere with the fulfillment of her dreams. Therefore, henceforth she wants to devote herself to music. Her sister Shekergul who just recently started playing komuz, already learned to play some melodies and began to sing along with it. She is thinking to enroll in one of the musical educational institutions after she completes the 9th grade. The parents of these two girls are very nice people. Their father Parmanov David currently works in Russia. He has bought komuz for his daughters. “From time to time he calls me and asks about the achievements of his daughters,” - says the head of the club Burul Stamkulova.
Another girl who is fond of music studies in secondary school №7 named after Alym Usman in the city of Jalal-Abad. Her name is Samida Kurbanova. She has been attending the club since the beginning of this new school year. In this short time she quickly learned to play the ooz komuz well and began to play some melodies. "Samida is a very talented girl; she quickly perceives and reproduces the covered material very well. She has a very strong musical perception," notes Burul aiym.
