Zhyldyz Kaldarbekova provides psychological assistance to the residents of the Ch. Aitmatov district of Jalal-Abad city within the framework of WPU Erayim’s ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ project. During a survey, she met a woman named Umsunai Bazarkulova. It was evident that she had had a hard life and health problems. The psychologist, who noticed that the inner world of the woman had visibly affected her appearance, decided to talk with her sincerely and found out what her problem was, what she was worried about.
"I've been married twice. I have a son and a daughter from the first marriage. They are already married and live on their own. I lived in a civil marriage with my second husband and I have a son from him. My second husband left and married another woman. He does not help me at all. My health deteriorated due to my life problems and constant worrying about them. I underwent surgery three times. I brought up three children on my own. I worked in the Tazalyk organization in Jalal-Abad city. Currently, because of my health, I do not work. I have a very difficult financial situation. My youngest son is 16 years old. Because of the financial difficulties, I was not able to send him to his desired educational institution. He enrolled at professional lyceum №1of Jalal-Abad city on his own. In the evenings he works in a café and earns money. We get by thanks to his earnings. He wants to become a journalist in the future and is also interested in being a TV presenter. However, I cannot help him to fulfill his wish because I need material and psychological help,” says Umsunai.
Zhyldyz met with Umsunai several times. She gave her advice and provided psychological assistance to Umsunai. After that, she contacted the project specialist on public relations, Baktykan Azhymamatova, and asked her to help Umsunai’s son in the field of journalism.
Nowadays, Syimyk Bazarkulov, Umsunai’s son, receives lessons from Baktykan Azhymamatova on journalism and is getting the needed skills to become a TV presenter. He visits the editorial office of Akyikat newspaper regularly and learns how to properly write articles from experienced journalists, read texts, and how to pronounce words correctly. In August, he is going to visit a summer media camp called ‘Journalist's Career and Media Partnership’ organized by the Development of Young Citizens foundation.
"I have a goal. I want to become a journalist in the future. I have great ideas in this field. Because of financial problems, I have to study and work. I also have to take care of my mother; her medicine costs a lot of money. There is no one except me who can look after her. May God help me to find the way out from this difficult situation so that I would become a professional TV journalist," says Syimyk.
