A contest for the Best Self-Help Group was held with groups from Mady, Shark, Kyzyl-Kyshtak village districts of Kara-Suu region of Osh province. The members of each group, together with other interested parties, participated.

The participants were required to have a knowledge of the history and establishment of WPU Erayim’s and were asked questions about the activities of the WPU Erayim’s project. They were also questioned on the project named “The introduction of a combination of traditional and modern approaches to prevent conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan “, together with the goals and tasks of the project.

The ages of the participants from the groups, was between 18 and 75 years old.

Members of a jury were appointed.

Members of the SHGs had to show their knowledge in three categories – “Greetings”, “Akyl Ordo” and “Talents”. The jury found SHG Hamza proved to be the best self-help group out of the 15 participating groups from Sharq village district. SHG Tatyna was voted the best from 12 groups in the Kyzyl-Kyshak village district and SHG Umut from the 12 groups from Mady village district.

Erlan Davlatov, an expert on Public Relations and Mass Media of WPU Erayim in the Osh province, was the organizer of this event.
