The training "Voice of Citizens and Accountability of Local Self-Governments: Budget Process" was conducted for members of "Kurmanzhan Datka", "Shark" and "Kyzyl-Kyshtak" SHG Associations organised in Kara-Suu district.

The training was conducted by an experienced trainer Gulgaky Mamasalieva within the framework of the WPU Erayim project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Modern and Traditional Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, supported by the German organization Bread for the World".

The purpose of the training was to familiarise participants with the local budget and mechanisms of citizens' participation in the budget process.

As a result of the training, SHG Associations organised in Mady, Shark and Kyzyl-Kyshtak rural districts identified the most problematic issues of local importance and participated in the public hearings held in February, and submitted 9 proposals in written form.

“The main objective of this event is aimed at independent and sustainable work of the SHGs Associations established in Kara-Suu district, as well as improving social well-being and opportunities for the population," – added Narynkul Duishenalieva, Project Coordinator for SHGs.
