SHGs received income from growing maize

Members of the Maksat SHG in Mady village of Kara-Suu district jointly grew maize on 2 hectares of land. For this purpose, the members of SHG Maksat allocated 45 thousand from the internal savings of the SHG and used it for ploughing, sowing seeds, irrigation and fertilisers.

This season, the price of 1 kg of maize was 25 soms and the income from 18 tonnes of maize was 450 thousand soms. For 2022 Aiyl Okmotu did not collect land tax from farmers, so if we deduct 45 thousand soms spent on expenses, the Self-Help Group "Maksat" received a net income of 405 thousand soms. The profit was distributed among the 10 members of SHG for 40,500 KGS each and used for their needs, said Narynkul Dyushenaliyeva, coordinator for SHG in Osh Oblast.
