The activities of Self-Help Groups are one of the main components of the project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ supported by the German international organization Bread for the World.

SHGs and SHG Associations of Shark, Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak districts of Kara-Suu district in Osh province annually hold various kinds of events. Active members Shark SHG Association in Shark rural district in October this year held a cleanliness action, fulfilling this item of the work plan in the ecological direction.

The event took place in Shark rural district, where active SHG members were engaged in cleaning fallen leaves from the streets, collecting garbage. The villagers were warned that burning is strictly prohibited.

The Shark village administration supported this initiative, and a garbage truck was allocated for this. “The purpose of the event is to keep the Earth clean, not pollute the air, call fellow villagers to harmony, friendship, cleanliness and be an example for others,” says Mahpurat Bazarbayeva, a member of Bereke SHG.
