To improve the qualifications of local mediators training courses on Family Mediation were organized on November 7-8-9, 2020 in Kara-Suu district of Osh Oblast.

The courses were organized within the framework of the third phase of the project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ implemented by WPU Erayim with the support of the German international organization Bread for the World. It was conducted by the head of the National Mediation Center of the Kyrgyz Republic and an experienced coach Gulsina Kozhoyarova. The three-day training was attended by 13 mediators from Osh and Jalal-Abad oblasts, who had previously completed the courses provided for by the Mediation Law and received certificates confirming the status of a mediator. They are active members of Self-Help Groups and employees of WPU Erayim organization.

The training lasted 3 days, included 5 topics such as ‘Peculiarities of Family Mediation’, ‘Conflictological Competence of Family Mediators’, ‘Communicative Competence of Family Mediators’, ‘Emotional Competence of Family Mediators’, ‘Regulating Competence of Family Mediators’.

Within the framework of each topic, the participants, using their theoretical knowledge gained during the training courses, worked practically in groups on special cases, established their mediator methods and skills.

‘This three-day training was very interesting and useful for all participants. We received useful information and experience in improving our mediation skills. Henceforth, on the basis of the knowledge gained, we are ready to help citizens resolve family conflicts through peaceful negotiations, - said the training participants Nargiza Khusanova and Ainura Akmatova.

At the end of the training, special tests were conducted to check how the participants mastered the lessons. The distinguished participants received certificates of professional development in family mediation.
