Every year, a month of social justice takes place, which runs from February 20 to March 20. The UN General Assembly proclaimed February 20 as World Social Justice Day. This day is celebrated all over the world, including in Kyrgyzstan.

In honour of this day, an event was organized on the theme: “The Level of Social Justice in Our Village”. The event was attended by members of the Association of SHGs Kurmanzhan-Datka, Shark and Kerme-Too, organized within the framework of the WPU Erayim's ‘Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ project, supported by the German international organization Bread for the World.

The main purpose of the event is to identify unresolved problems in Shark, Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak rural districts, which reflect social injustice and appeal to local authorities to solve them.

During the event, Akbermet Tumenbaeva, a member of Kurmanzhan-Datka SHG's Association, raised several urgent issues: - “In the village of Dormaster there are no school, kindergarten, feldscher-midwife posts (FAP), and there is no building for the opening of a maternal school. Our village is located at the foot of the mountains along the highway in the direction of Osh, Alai, Tajikistan and China and is fenced by the Mashrabsai River on the other side. During the Soviet time, the village was a temporary residence for the road workers, later with an increase in population it turned into a village with 70 households. Children of preschool and school-age are 140-280 children. Our children go to school along a dangerous road for children, the distance from the village, which exceeds about 2 km. The issue of parenting and employing adults is still unresolved, ” she said.

Mastura Karynbaeva, a member of Kurmanzhan-Datka SHG's Association, considers this to be a social injustice and offers to clarify the fate of the building built in the village of Dormaster along the Kurshab and Alay highways, which was intended for the mosque. If the building is still not used for any needs, then she suggests using it for the maternal school.

In her speech, Maksuda, a member of the Shark SHG's Association, raised the issue of unemployment in the village. - “By opening maternal schools for women there is an opportunity to find a job. It is possible to implement social projects, and it is also necessary to obtain loans to launch micro-entrepreneurship to contribute to local economic development, ”she added.

Representatives of Kerme-Too SHG's Association raised the problems of maternal schools related to electricity tariffs and suggested contacting the competent state authorities to resolve the issue.

Upon completion of the event, to fulfil the proposals received, the SHG Associations decided to send a written appeal to local authorities and plan other events for the implementation of initiatives.
