Within the framework of the WPU Erayim’s project ‘Introduction of a Combination of Modern and Traditional Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, the project psychologist Zhyldyz Kaldarbekova, working in the Bazar-Korgon district, organized a street procession in support of the International Campaign 16 Days Against Violence.

It was attended by members of the SHG, social pedagogues of schools and the staff of secondary school No. 26. They carried the slogans ‘We Are Against Violence’, ‘We Want to Live without Violence’, ‘The Result of Violence is a Crime’, so they went through several streets of Bazar-Korgon village.

- In the beginning, only the target group went on the street procession, but with the passage of each street, the number of participants in the campaign increased. The head of the municipality also supported, expressed that they are against violence. And those who filled our ranks turned out to be victims of violence, not only of family violence but also of violence by society and their surroundings. For example, they suffered from moral humiliation, economic, cultural, moral, physical violence. They asked us for advice. They said that they want to live their lives without violence, that they need to stop the violence,’ says Zh. Kaldarbekova.

After passing the internal and main streets of the village, a meeting was held in the meeting room of the Bazar-Korgon municipality. It was attended by the heads of the municipality, the district’s internal affairs officers, the psychologist and other specialists of the WPU Erayim, specialists from the district education department, public organizations and medical workers. They all noted that the violence will bring suffering not only to the victim and to the person who does violence, but it also gives a negative impact on society as a whole. Ending violence should be a common issue in society.
