A five-day training course for social workers, juvenile inspectors and nurses in child psychology

For the period from October 14 to October 18, 2019, within the framework of the third phase of the WPU Erayim’s project ‘Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, supported by German international organization Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt) training course on child psychology were held for social workers, juvenile inspectors and nurses in the rural districts of Shark, Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak of Kara-Suu district in Osh oblast.
The program of the training course included the following topics: ‘Formation of Confident Behavior in Children’, ‘Formation of Personal Growth of Children’, ‘Some Issues of Child Psychology and Especially Adolescence’. The training course was held at a high level by an experienced psychologist and trainer Ch. Termechikova. The training was attended by 23 people.
The purpose of the training course is to strengthen the potential of responsible specialists in rural districts located in the project area for working with the population and increase their knowledge in child psychology.
During the training course, the problems of raising children and adolescents, issues regarding the harsh treatment of children of different groups (children with disabilities, children with deviant behaviors) and lack of care on the part of parents were discussed, and ways to resolve these issues were also considered. Participants were presented with a video by Harry Harlow, an American psychologist, titled “The Harry Harlow Experiment,” where participants received information about the need for frequent contact between children and their parents. Children raised with parents will be protected and mentally healthy. Participants noted that in kindergartens they notice parents who treat children well. Social workers shared their thoughts about the fact that there are many children in a society whose parents are outside the country to earn money and who face problems of abuse by adult guardians.
Participants were able to learn useful knowledge and experience in child psychology, exchanged work experience and intend to apply the knowledge gained in everyday life, in working with children and adolescents.
At the end of the event, all participants were awarded certificates of successful completion of the psychological training course.
