A new street was built in the village of Karacha Akman municipality of Bazar-Korgon district. There are several local long-standing problems there. Residents of the new street and village in whole learn to solve their problems by themselves and even help local self-governance in this.
Here, the members of the Meerim Self-Help Group initiated the installation of poles for rolling out electricity along the street. This group have been created and worked within the framework of the project ‘The introduction of a combination of traditional and modern approaches to prevent the conflict in the South of the Kyrgyzstan’. The SHG members collected 75,000 soms from residents of the street and purchased poles for the electricity line. Their husbands help them in their installation. In total, 27 electric poles were installed. The distance of each pole is 45 meters. This means that the poles were installed fully on the street. Now they are going again to raise money for kettles and wires. Besides, there are problems with pure water and roads. Meerim SHG members say that they will solve these problems together with the leaders of the village council.
