WPU Erayim is one of the leading organisation in the mobilization of the local population, support for local initiatives, resolving local issues and implementation of projects, directed to the improvement of the socio-economic condition rural population.

Within the framework of the WPU Erayim’s ‘Introduction of a Combination of Traditional and Modern Approaches to Prevent Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’  project, various works are being carried out in the Osh and Jalal-Abad oblasts. There are many praiseworthy things about the SHG Associations in the project areas of the two provinces. Members of the SHG Association try to solve various issues of a local nature, they identify them first, inform the local self-governance and assist them in solving problems. And when it comes to cultural events, the abilities, creativities, and talents of such groups come out. The SHG Associations “Asylzat” and “Akyikat” in Akman rural district of Bazar-Korgon district together with the project staff of WPU Erayim organized a national holiday. With the arrival of spring, everything has turned green, the days are getting longer. Nature is being renewed and to praise the new life SHG Associations installed yurts, prepared sumolok and various national dishes. They created a special festive mood. Representatives of many nationalities live in the rural district of Akman. Since ancient times, there is a tradition of harmony, friendship, and cohesion. The traditions of each nationality are highly valued here. Therefore, representatives of each nation dressed in their national clothes showed their traditions on this day. They performed songs in their native languages, danced national dances, praised friendship and harmony. The leaders of the Akman rural district announced a competition for decorating a yurt, for national dishes, for performing songs and dances. The holiday lasted a whole day, the unity between the older and younger generations was clearly observed. 

- We organised this event as partners with the Akman rural authority. Our goal is to show the friendship, harmony, and culture of every ethnicity. Pass on our national traditions to the next generation. Basically, the Akman rural authority treats our organization with support and respect. Always working closely with us. Our initiatives to improve living conditions, solve social and economic problems, improve infrastructure and our other initiatives are always supported and are looking for ways to solve them. This time it is our jointly organized event, the celebration of the national holiday, noted Kishimzhan Boronbaeva, coordinator for SHG of the WPU Erayim in Jalal-Abad Oblast.
