Within the framework of the WPU Erayim project ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Modern and Traditional Approaches to Prevent the Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’, supported by the German organisation Bread for the World Associations of SHGs Kerme-Too, Kurmanzhan-Datka, Shark and activists of Self-Help Groups organised event ‘Blessed Nooruz - a holiday of friendship’, which was celebrated on March 21 this year in Kyzyl-Kyshtak, Mady and Shark municipalities Kara-Suu district.

It should be noted that the Associations SHG same day took part in the event organized in honor of Nooruz in Kara-Suu city. Heads of district state administration and local rural authorities expressed their gratitude to SHGs and ASHGs for their contribution to prevent conflict in the region, wished them success in their work, - noted Narynkul Diushenalieva, project SHG coordinator.

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the arrival of spring, the blessed Nooruz holiday. Members of 3 ASHGs and newly formed self-help groups took part in the celebration. ASHGs allocated 12,800 soms from their internal savings and prepared sumolok in Shark village. People from three municipalities, in particular, members of associations of different nationalities, gathered together, cooked a festive sumolok dish, and wished each other peace and goodness, - noted ASHG member Myrzatova Toktokan.

A concert entitled ‘Nooruz is a basis for the revival of national values’ was organized at Osh National Drama Theater. Members of Associations SHGs also visited the event. The concert was rich of national ceremonies such as ‘Heritage of Fathers’, ‘Mother's Advice’, ‘Meeting a New Day', ‘Nooruz Traditions’, traditional comic songs ‘Akyinek’ and dances. Along with rites of blessing, which are attributes of Nooruz holiday, sumolok was distributed to participants. The concert glorified peace, friendship, unity and the peaceful life of people.
