Round tables with representatives of local authorities and SHG Associations

Women's Public Union Erayim uses close cooperation with local authorities as one of the strategies in strengthening friendship, unity and peaceful coexistence, as well as helping to improve the living conditions of the local population.

In this direction, within the framework of the 3rd phase of the WPU Erayim’s ‘The Introduction of a Combination of Modern and Traditional Approaches to Prevent a Conflict in the South of Kyrgyzstan’ project, supported by the German international organization Bread for the World, round tables were organized in Shark, Mady and Kyzyl-Kyshtak rural districts of Kara-Suu district in Osh oblast. Representatives of Aiyl Okmotu (a local authority), village leaders, deputies of the local keneshes (councils) and representatives of SHG Associations took part in this event.

The main purpose of this event is to present the 5-year strategic development plans of Kyzyl-Kyshtak, Mady and Shark rural districts to representatives of the SHG Associations, and on their basis to identify priority fields of cooperation, introducing them into the work plans of the SHG Associations, to strengthen friendship, unity and peaceful coexistence, as well as improving the living standards in villages. Round tables were held on November 7, 2019 in the rural districts of Kyzyl-Kyshtak with the participation of representatives of the Kerme-Too SHG Association, November 12, 2019 in Mady with the participation of representatives of the Kurmanzhan Datka SHG Association, and November 13, 2019 in Shark with the participation of representatives of Shark SHG Association.

During the event, responsible employees from each municipality presented to the round table participants a five-year strategic plan for the development of the rural districts for the period from 2017 to 2021. Members of the SHG Associations actively participated in discussions and made their comments and suggestions. Avakan Nishanova, a member of the Kerme-Too SHG Association, voiced the main problems of the Kyzyl-Kyshtak rural district and spoke about the need to open a bank in the village and repair gas pipelines. Another member of the round table from the rural district of Mady, a member of the SHG Associations Kurmanzhan Datka, Sanzhyra Pusurova, proposed working together with Ayil Okmotu (a local authority) when initiating projects for small grants for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, dairy processing and cattle breeding. Mufazal Khodjaeva, a member of the Shark SHG Associations in the Shark rural district, noted the need to update the building of Abu Ali ibn Sino, No. 16 school and solve social problems in the rural district. Adylzhan Turgunov, another member of the SHG Novbakhar, proposed to improve the joint work of the SHGs, SHG Associations and Ayil Okmotu to strengthen friendship, unity and peaceful coexistence of the population through cultural events, as well as to conduct propaganda work against all types of violence and religious extremism.

At the end of the event, representatives of local authorities, village leaders expressed their willingness to cooperate and collaborate with the SHG Associations in solving the voiced tasks at the round table, taking into account all the comments and suggestions.
